Goal:
The goal of restarting the Sturgeon Bay High School Athletic Hall of Fame is to celebrate and recognize the achievements and contributions of our former athletes, coaches, teams, and community members who have had a significant impact on Clipper nation and our community through athletics.
Purpose:
To honor Sturgeon Bay’s athletic legacy, inspire current and future student-athletes, while fostering a sense of pride and tradition within the Sturgeon Bay School District and community.
Criteria for Nomination:
- The nominee for the Sturgeon Bay High School Hall of Fame must be a graduate
of Sturgeon Bay High School and be from a class that graduated at least (8) years prior to nomination. Also eligible are the Sturgeon Bay High School Athletic Program personnel for whom the alumni requirement is waived. Special circumstances will be considered for those not meeting the above criteria.
- The nominee for the Hall of Fame must have set standards of excellence in
athletics in one or more of the following:
- Athlete: Athletic honors achieved. Example - awards at Sturgeon Bay
High School, Conference, regional, and/or state/national honors.
- Coach: Outstanding success in the field of coaching.
- Athletic Prominence: Post-high school accomplishments in the field of
athletics.
- Supporter: Great contributors to Sturgeon Bay Athletic Programs.
- Coaches can be nominated 2 years after the completion of their coaching tenure
within the Sturgeon Bay school district.
Selection Committee:
- 6 members will make up the selection committee

- a combination of the following (Sturgeon Bay School District Board
members, Administrators, Booster club members, Alumni, community members, and/or Current/former coaches).
- Individuals will be asked to serve on the committee for a 3-year term (the first
selection committee will be asked to serve in the following capacity: (2) for one-year terms, (2) for two-year terms, (2) for three-year terms).
- The Sturgeon Bay Athletic Director will serve as the committee facilitator as a
non-voting member
Nomination Process:
- All are welcome to submit a completed nomination form. This can be found on
the Sturgeon Bay High School Athletic website.
- These will be due by August 1st.
- All nominations that are not selected will remain on file for three years and be
considered annually by the selection committee along with new nominations.
- One can re-nominate a candidate after three years if the candidate was not
selected over that period of time.
Selection Process:
- The selection committee will meet after the nomination deadline (August 1st) to
review all nominations.
- A candidate for the Sturgeon Bay Athletic Hall of Fame must receive 4 out of 6
votes in order to be selected for induction into the Sturgeon Bay Athletic Hall of Fame.
- No more than 5 inductees will be inducted each year.
A ceremony for the inductees will be held each year at a Fall athletic event.
Awards:
- A plaque will be awarded to each inductee
- A bio and picture will be uploaded and displayed on our new interactive touch
screen outside the main HS gym.
